It's so FUCKING EMO and full of GODDAMN WHINERS, and all the MEN might as well be fucking WOMEN for all the WANGST they have. When REAL MANLY MEN like ME read old manga, it's TRUE MACHO MATERIAL like VIOLENCE JACK.
You have a bunny on your leg.
ive never really seen any but theres this one really pretty bishouenen that i thinks from an old anime his name was oscar or something i wonder what hes like
...oh boy. XD THIS is gonna be hilarious!
Only the stuff with lots of cute boys is good, like Kaze to Ki no Uta. Everything else is ICKY and has too many VAGINAS in it!
You stay away from Kaze to Ki no Uta.
Once you get past the radically different art styles and melodrama, some of it's pretty cool. But I'm more of an old-school mecha guy myself. Gatchaman and Yatterman FTW!
Rose of Versailles is one of my favorite anime series of all time. Back in the olden days, anime writers and manga artists knew the value of the good, wholesome, old-fashioned love story rather than cluttering a series with cheap fanservice.
...you've never seen Oniisama e, have you?
Funny you should ask! Molly and I did a marathon of old-school shoujo last weekend...I've never really been into it like she is, but now I can't get enough. XD
It's one of my favorite genres, actually.
um I'm more into modern stuff but some of the older shoujo looks cute!! :DD
I could be persuaded to give it a try. Old-school mecha and super sentai writers fall into the same traps as their modern counterparts by making their main characters unlikeable and annoying *coughs pointedly in the direction of Gatchaman*, but perhaps shoujo will be a different story. After all, the 90s were said to be the decline of pop culture and that is when Miaka and Usagi were created, so perhaps Oscar and Nanako will be at least easier to stomach.
...yes, and birds go "tweet".
I LOVE it! Candy Candy is one of my favorite series of all time!
Hmph. So much of it is nothing but sunshiney sugar-coated fluff with nothing in the way of compelling villains.
You're not forgetting about Auguste Beau, are you, Kristan? *pouts just a little*
Having said that... you know that I agree with you otherwise. So many nauseatingly pure-hearted heroines, and not enough villains to provide us with truly deep and worthy characters; it's little wonder that so many young girls grew up to be such empty-headed, bimbotic fools who can't appreciate true excellence!
It's awesome and anyone who bashes on it has no taste! *flips off Gordon, then in advance flips off anyone else who might diss it*
I thought Oniisama e might be interesting despite its weepy melodrama and shitty art style, because I was told it had lesbians and strong women. What a fucking joke! The heroine was too prissy and pure to survive in the real world, the "strong women" were nothing but simpering whiners with too much girly wangst...and to top off this pile of FUCKING BULLSHIT, they forced Kaoru, the only character I might have respected, to marry a fucking man at the end! What an anti-feminist disappointment of a fucking series!
*absolutely CRINGES as Missy manages to completely miss the point*
Oniisama e was not just about "lesbians and strong women"...! It was about relationships, obsession, coming of age, the frailties of human emotion!
IT'S AWESOME CAUSE IT HAS LOTS OF HOTT CHICKS BUT ALSO SUX CAUSE ALL TEH ENDINGS ARE HET AND THERE'S NO LESBIAN SMEX!!!!
Mmm~, it's got loads of hawt chicks, all right...
Don't hawt 70s manga chicks make you wanna fap all night, Lil' Rod? X3*simply cannot hide that evil little smirk on her face*
Man, I don't think I've seen old shoujo.
My speciality, and I love to make younger fans look at them and go beyond the animation ghetto! ♥
Now, if others had the same respect I do my best to have towards new things instead of bashing them for looking weird or being boring...
*chuckles, raises hand* Slightly guilty of that at first, at least with the shoujo. I was sixteen at the time, though, and the art styles were just REALLY weird at first compared to what I was used to. But it grew on me! XD
